Donald “Roy” Rayborn, 64, of Seale, Alabama, passed away on October 18, 2025. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend, Roy lived a life marked by dedication to his family, his work, and his many passions.
Born on July 29, 1961, in Frankfurt, Germany, Roy was the son of Jerry Rayborn and Shirley Coker. He was baptized by faith and held a steadfast belief in the Lord Jesus Christ.
Roy worked at 84 Lumber as an Outside Sales Representative. He took great pride in helping his building contractors with their plans and ensuring they had the correct materials for their projects. His attention to detail and commitment to service earned him the respect of his colleagues and clients alike.
At the heart of Roy’s life was his family. He shared 43 wonderful years of marriage with his beloved wife, Melissa. Together, they raised two children — a son, Matthew Rayborn (and his wife Karye) and a daughter, Jessica Sims (and her husband DJ). Roy was a proud and devoted “Papaw” to his grandchildren, Mason, Cardin, Abigail, and Landry, whom he loved deeply and supported wholeheartedly.
Roy is also survived by his sister, Pat Guthrie (and her husband John); his father, Jerry Rayborn; his mother-in-law, Shirley Welch; his brothers-in-law, Jay Antrobus and Jason Hess; and his sister-in-law, Melanie Youngblood. He also leaves behind two aunts, several nieces and nephews, as well as cousins, including Sonya, who was very dear to him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Herman and Shirley Coker, as well as several aunts and uncles.
A man of many interests, Roy found joy in reloading ammunition, working with his tractor, hunting, riding his motorcycle, watching the Little League World Series and college football, and visiting casinos. His love for the outdoors was matched only by his passion for coaching baseball — a role he embraced not only for his children but also for his grandchildren. Whether on the field or in the stands, Roy was always there to support them in achieving their goals.
Roy’s legacy is one of love, loyalty, and laughter — a life well lived in service to others and filled with meaningful moments shared with those he held dear. May his memory bring comfort to all who knew him.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, October 24, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. EST at Vance Brooks Funeral Home in Phenix City, Alabama.
