Donald Reinitz of Mt. Vernon, passed away Monday afternoon July 25, 2022 surrounded by his family at the home of his son, Brian. He was born August 27, 1939, the son of Arno F. and Bessie E. (Hunt) Reinitz. He married Sheila A Toothman on March 14, 1964 and she preceded him in death on January 11, 2019.
Don is survived by his sons: Brian (Kim) Reinitz & Mark Reinitz. Grandchildren: Jessica (Ben) Anselman, Michea (Ryan) Wittenbraker, Payton (Abbey)Powers & Mark Gray. Great-grandchildren: Reinitz, Walker Wayne & Pfeiffer, Anselman, Kaleb & Rhett Lee Wittenbraker. Sister: Deborah Stieff. Brothers: Fred (Rachel) & Joseph (Jamie) Reinitz.
During Don's lifetime he had a host of different jobs, he was a member of several unions & also a self owned businessman. He worked as a steel hauler at Babcox and Wilcox quickly moving up to Process Engineer. He retired from Whirlpool. He owned & operated "The BBQ Place," "Exon Gas Station" & a mechanic/body shop. He was a lifetime member of Owen Dunn Post #5, the Mt. Vernon Elks 277 Club & the Mt. Vernon Boat Club. He was a 15 year member of the Fire & Rescue as well as one of their former presidents. He was a veteran of the United States Army as a telegraph operator & a member of the Mt. Vernon United Methodist Church.
Don retired at the age 57. During his retirement he & Sheila loved to travel. They would frequent Gatlinburg, Kentucky Lake and traveling the Unites States with Friends. If they weren't traveling you would most likely find them at one of their grandchildren's sporting events. They would always be the first arrivers sometimes even before the venue opened to save seats for others. Some of his others hobbies included: fishing, boating, teaching everyone in his family to water ski, auto mechanic &body work.
Memorial services will be held at 7 p.m. on Friday July 29, 2022, at the Denning Family Funeral Home at 1330 E. 4th St., Mt. Vernon, IN. Friends may call from 5 p.m until time of services at the Funeral Home. Military rites will be conducted at 7 p.m. by Owen Dunn Post #5. My deepest thoughts and prayers r with EACH an Every one of the Reinitz family members. During their loss of their loved one ...I Was blessed to have know an spend time w them....
Please find comfort in the reuniting his beloved wife for they had a long happy life together ...raising 2 wonderful boys into men...and had grandchildren ....I hope and pray 4 lots of comfort an peace to be w each one of them in their time of saying "I'll see ya later"
Something my grandfather taught me " NEVER SAY GOODBYE " always say SEE YA LATER" HE would tell me as a kid .unfortunately after the loss of my only child my son ....ohh did I 100% know what he meant ....
This is this only our temporary home.... Take care lots of comfort your way ...
