Donald Tester Reynolds, aged 76, passed away peacefully at his residence on Monday, June 10, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Guilford County, he was the son of the late Gilmer and Bernice Reynolds. He was a devoted husband to Bonnie Hamm Reynolds for 56 remarkable years, who survives him.
Don’s life was a testament to his enduring spirit and diverse talents. From his early days as a US Air Force wartime veteran, he transitioned into a successful career as a telephone repairman before pursuing his passion for mechanics to become a mechanical engineer. His expertise and dedication led him to own a small business and later consult with the Department of Defense, contributing significantly to full-scale military operations.
Beyond his professional achievements, Don was known for his love of pranks, never missing an opportunity to bring a smile or a surprised laugh to the faces of friends and family. His sense of humor was only matched by his passion for NASCAR and his cherished collection of antique cars, which he loved restoring and showcasing.
Retiring from AT&T after a rewarding career, he spent his later years indulging in his interests and embracing every moment with his family. Don was a loving and dedicated husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. His joy was most apparent when he was with his grandchildren, sharing stories and lessons from his many travels and adventures.
Don leaves behind his wife, Bonnie; children, Donald Jason Reynolds and his wife, Marinelle, Dee Ann Owens and her husband, Chad; grandchildren, Anna, Colby, Gavyn, and Mikaila; and great-grandchildren, Archer, Benjamin (twin boys), and Oakley. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Brenda Miller.
A celebration of Don’s life will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, June 15, 2024, at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends following the service and at other times at the home. The family extends a heartfelt thanks to the staff at Liberty Commons and Liberty Hospice for their compassionate care.
Donald Tester Reynolds lived life to the fullest, making every day count and leaving a lasting impact on everyone he met. He will be dearly missed but forever remembered for his vibrant spirit, loving heart, and adventurous soul.
