Donald Nelson "Don" Ricottilli, age 77 years, a resident of the Kingsville Community, Coalton, WV, departed this life Monday morning, October 14, 2024 at
Elkins, WV. He had been in his usual health and death was unexpected.
He was born Monday, August 25, 1947 at Buckhannon, WV a son of the late Armand Nicholas Ricottilli, Sr, and R. Kathryn "Katie" Ratliff Ricottilli.
Surviving are three sons, Anthony Ricottilli and wife Shelley, and Jeff Ricottilli and wife Brandi, all of Kingsville, and Wayne Ricottilli and wife Erin of Irmo, SC; and six grandchildren, Devan and fiancé Elisa, Kaeli, Celia, Katelyn, Chloe and Caroline. He enjoyed making his grandchildren smile and laugh, always there if they needed Papa. He is also survived by the mother of his children, Carolyn Sue Ricottilli of Kingsville.
Preceding him in death is one brother, Armand Nicholas Ricottilli, Jr.
Don was a graduate of the Coalton High School class of 1966. He was a veteran of the United States Army, serving time in Germany. He was the co-owner of D & N Ricottilli Rustic Fencing and Ricottilli Fencing of WV, with his brother Nick, for thirty years. He was a member of Saint Patrick's Catholic Church at Coalton, where he was a faithful member of the spaghetti dinner and meatball hoagie team. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Roaring Creek Lions Club, serving many offices including president, and a past member of the West Virginia Forestry Association. He was a recipient of the Melvin Jones Fellowship Award from the Roaring Creek Lions Club and served on the committee of the George Broschart Memorial Scholarship.
Don was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying his time working in the woods, hunting and fishing and riding his side by side. He looked forward to his hunting and fishing adventures with family and long-time friends. He was also a WVU and Nascar fan. He will be missed by his family and all that knew him, always being remembered for his generosity, outgoing personality and loud laugh.
The family will receive friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Elkins on Thursday, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM. On Thursday, at 6:30 PM, a Vigil Rite will be recited. On Friday morning, October 18, 2024 Mr. Ricottilli will be moved to the Saint Patrick's Catholic Church at Coalton, where the Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated at 11:00 AM. The Reverend Father Jim O'Connor will be the Presider and interment will follow at the Saint Vincent's Cemetery at Kingsville, WV, where full military honors will be accorded by members of the WV National Guard Honor Guard Program, the H. W. Daniel's Post # 29, American Legion and the Tygarts Valley Post # 3647, Veterans of Foreign Wars. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the George Broschart Scholarship, in care of Robert Broschart, 40 R. Broschart Drive, Coalton, WV 26257 or to the Saint Patrick's Lady's Guild, in care of Saint Patrick's Catholic Church, 200 Church Street, Coalton, WV 26257.
