Donald (Don) Maurice Rousseau, age 73, passed away unexpectedly yet peacefully on January 20, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.
Don was born in Biddeford, Maine on May 19, 1951. He attended Biddeford schools, graduated from St Louis High School in 1969, and graduated from St Francis College in 1973. He had a great love of music, joined band during school, and continued playing with the St Louis Alumni Band. He was also an avid crossword puzzler.
Don met the love of his life, Linda, while working at First National grocery store and married her on March 2, 1973. He often spoke highly of his wife, calling her his soul mate, and telling everyone how proud he was of a long and happy marriage. At his Parkinson's support group, he routinely said he was most thankful for her.
Don and Linda had three sons, who were always a great source of joy. He cherished watching them at sporting events and documenting their lives through his passion of photography. Don truly enjoyed celebrating all his sons' accomplishments and successes as they grew into loving husbands, fathers and contributing community members. His greatest accomplishment was being a loving dad to his sons and daughters-in-law, and later grandfather to his six grandchildren.
Don worked for years at Cadorette's Hardware, where he developed a love for working with his hands. The skills he learned there stayed with him for life, and he reveled in completing projects around his house and helping his sons with their homes. He was a patient teacher, always imparting his knowledge on his kids and grandkids. Don opened and ran Rosco Sharpening as a side business for over 40 years, where he was able to continue to work with his hands. Don went to work for the US Post Office in 1986, and remained there until his retirement in 2016. He prided himself on his knowledge of local addresses and enjoyed his connection with the community through his work.
Don is survived by his beloved wife of 53 years, Linda (Boucher) Rousseau, son Ross Rousseau and his wife Julie DeSa Rousseau of LaGrangeville, NY, son Matthew Rousseau of Biddeford, son Eric Rousseau and his wife Kendra (Belanger) Rousseau of Lyman ME, his grandchildren, Emmett, Evelyn, Cassia, Cordelia, Silvia, and Theodore, and his brother Roger (Debbie) Rousseau, as well as many cherished cousins, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews and their spouses. He is predeceased by his parents, Raymond and Jeannette (Langevin) Rousseau.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Don's memory to The Parkinson's Foundation.
Visitation is from 5pm to 7pm on Wednesday, January 29th at Hope Memorial Chapel in Biddeford. A private graveside service will take place at a later time for immediate family.
