Wichmann Funeral Home - Downtown AppletonDon Sanborn, 70, passed away on 11/16/2025 at his home in Appleton, WI after a battle with cancer. Don was born March 15, 1955 in Milwaukee, WI, the son of Donald and Dorothy (Krahn) Sanborn.
In his youth, Don participated in the Boy Scouts, was an avid skier, loved traveling, and valued spending time with his cousins and friends. Don married his wife, Marie (Laurino), in 1981, and they had two children, Chase and Bonnie. Together, they were the proprietors of Sanborn’s Clothing and Shoes and San Laurio Coffeehouse. Having spent decades in retail, Don will be known best by many as a leader, a mentor, and a colleague. His friends and co-workers will remember his wit and idiosyncrasies, but mostly his kindness. Upon retirement, Don relocated to Myrtle Beach, SC, where he enjoyed his later years with his partner, Jane Lacwinko.
Don was preceded in death by his father, Donald Franklin Sanborn; his mother, Dorothy Regina (Krahn) Sanborn; and his wife, Marie Dorothy (Laurino) Sanborn.
Don is survived by his children Chase Sanborn and Bonnie Abadeer.
A celebration of Don’s life will be held at 6pm on December 4th at Vintage Grounds Coffeehouse (S74W16825 W Janesville Rd, Muskego, WI 53150).
