Retired Air Force veteran of over 20 years, Donald Ray Sheets went to be with his Heavenly Father on Wednesday, December 10th at 11:58 p.m.
He is survived by his wife of 32 years Sheila Allman Sheets. He is also survived by his daughter Ashley Sheets Eudy and husband Chad Eudy of Charleston, SC as well as his stepson Brian Richard Barnes of Charlotte, NC. Also survived by Donald is mother Ethel Hinson Sheets. His son Bryon Christopher Sheets preceded him in death as well as his father James Villard Sheets. Donald's surviving siblings are two brothers Ronald Sheets, wife Carol of Landis, NC and Gary Sheets, wife Cheryl of China Grove, NC and a sister Kimberly Dawsey, husband Autry Dawsey of Kannapolis, NC. Donald is also survived by two grandchildren Aubry Eudy and Joshua Eudy both of Charleston, SC. as well as a step-granddaughter Emily Ann Barnes of Denver, Colorado.
Donald was very active in his church prior to his illness. In his early years he enjoyed playing football in high school at Northwest Cabarrus, where he graduated in 1969. He also played football in the military. He enjoyed playing golf and played it every chance he got. Donald ...Don...Donnie most of all enjoyed bowling and was presented with a 300 Gold ring championship bowling league. Of course most of all he enjoyed music, laughter and family.
Donald was much loved by all his family and friends and will truly be missed by all who loved him. May Donald rest in peace until we meet again when the Lord calls us home.
A graveside service is scheduled for 1:30 pm Monday, January 12, 2026, at Salisbury National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to contribute to his services at Lady's Funeral Home, 268 N Cannon Boulevard, Kannapolis, NC 28083.
