Donald Ray Shepherd Jr., 74, of Fort Smith, Arkansas, passed away peacefully on August 2, 2025. Born on October 18, 1950, in Dallas, Texas, he was the son of Donald Ray Shepherd Sr. and Ramona Rae Shepherd (McMinn). A proud veteran, Don served in the United States Army from 1971 to 1974. He dedicated his career to the printing industry, retiring from Calvert McBride Printing Company after many years.
On August 19, 2005, Don married Linda Ann Shepherd in Fort Smith. He was well-known for his generous spirit, often described as "a father to all" who was always ready to lend a helping hand. In his free time, Don cherished moments with his family, loved riding his motorcycle, and enjoyed traveling. As a man of faith, he was an active member of Central Christian Church for many years.
Don is survived by his daughters, Trish Jennings of Lavaca, AR, Jessica Shepherd of Fort Smith, AR, and Jennifer Baggett and husband Chris of Van Buren, AR. He also leaves behind his first wife, Sandy Shepherd, mother of Jennifer and Jessica; five grandchildren: Justin, Trennan, Chris, Kyle, and Alex, as well as two great-grandchildren, Mason and Riley. Don is remembered fondly by his sisters, Loretta Kent of San Antonio, TX, and Sue Ebey of Mabank, TX, along with several nephews, nieces, and cousins, including Ronald Shepherd, Gary Shepherd, and June Shepherd.
Don was preceded in death by his grandparents; his parents, Donald Sr. and Ramona; and his wife, Linda Shepherd.
A committal service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 17, 2025, at the Fort Smith National Cemetery, where Don and Linda will be laid to rest together. Services are entrusted to Lewis Funeral Chapel.
