DONALD MELVIN SHEPLER

Donald Melvin Shepler, 84, Belmont, West Virginia, passed away Tuesday, December 30, 2025 surrounded by his children. He was born December 2, 1941, in Greensburg, PA, the only child of the late Charles Melvin and Catherine Marie Meyers Shepler.

Don was a 1961 graduate of Hempfield High School. He worked at International Paper and Walworth Valve Company in Greensburg, PA, until he moved his family to Belmont in 1978 to work for Allegheny Power at the Willow Island Power Station. He retired from the power station in 1995.

Don was a good mechanic and his hobbies included rebuilding and painting antique cars and trucks. He enjoyed going to car shows and was an avid fan of Nascar and Pittsburgh Steelers. Don was a life-time member and past Exalted Ruler of the St. Marys Elks Lodge #1701, where he liked to socialize with friends and fellow members.

Family was important to Don. He would express daily his love and pride for his children and grandchildren. He is survived by his three children, Sherri (Chris) Rutherford of Parkersburg, Donnie (Renie) Shepler of Reedsville, OH, and Stacy Shepler of St. Marys; grandchildren, Ethan, Katie and Christian Rutherford, Myria Barton and Maddie Blain; sister-in-law, Billie Carey.

Don had deep faith in the Lord and prayed for his family every day.

He is preceded in death by his parents, and Carol Shepler, mother of his children, sister-in-law, Shirley Long and brothers-in-law Ronald Long and Vernon Carey who were like his brothers.

Don's family would like to express their thanks to the staff at Belmont Care Center and the ACU and ICU nurses at WVU Medicine Camden Clark, for the compassion and excellent care they gave to Don.

Services will be held 2:00 P.M. Saturday, January 10, 2025 at the Ingram Funeral Home in St. Marys, WV, with Pastor Mick Wentzel officiating. Friends may call from 11 to 2 P.M. Saturday at the funeral home. A chapel service will be at 2:00 P.M. Monday, January 12, 2025 at Westmoreland County Memorial Park in Greensburg, PA.
