Donald Eugene Smith, 77, of Mineral Wells, West Virginia, passed away on January 30th, 2026, surrounded by loving family. He was born January 10th, 1949 in Bradner, Wood, Ohio, the son of Theodore William Smith and Olive Irene Hostottle.
Don joined the army and fought two tours in the Vietnam War.
Don married Dawanna (Leisure) on December 10th, 1987. They were together for 38 long years, through thick and thin.
He retired as a house-painter. This was a love of his, in which he taught his kids; he even taught his wife. In that, he had a love for drawing as well.
This was the man you ran to when everything was wrong, when you needed advice. This was the man who believed in talking to you, not down to you. You get in trouble? Grandpa/Dad is there to talk about the situation. This was the man that let his kids live with him when their world was crashing. This was the man who would do ANYTHING for his kids no matter their mistakes.
Remaining to cherish Donald’s memory is his wife Dawanna; children, Tia, Dena (Jeff), Ashley, and Josh; grandchildren, Christian, Harley (Kenneth), Hayleigh, Sierra, Katie, Aubrey, Kylee, Alyssa, Kanden, Nellie, Thomas, and Theodore; great-grandchildren, James; four siblings; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding in death are great-grandchildren, Ava; parents, Theodore William Smith and Olive Irene Hostottle; and brother, Theodore (Bud) William Smith.
"Be good, kid."
