David R. Matlack, 75, of Williamstown, formerly Vienna, passed away suddenly at his home on January 25, 2026 in the care of his wife, Diana. He was born February 1, 1950, in Parkersburg, a son of the late Justin “Judd” and Bessie Smith Matlack.
David is a 1968 graduate of Parkersburg High School, and served our country honorably in the U.S. Army Reserves from 1971-1977. He was employed at the Parkersburg Tile Co. for 35 years and Astorg Motors for 5 years before eventually retiring. When he wasn’t spending time with his wife, family, or friends, David enjoyed gardening and cars.
He leaves behind his loving wife of 46 years, Diana Coplin Matlack; brother-in-law, Eric Coplin (Cecelia); sister-in-law, Tammy Sole (Dennis); nephews, Daniel and Jeff Sole, and Logan Coplin; four great-nephews, Carter, Jonah, Jase, and Grayson Sole; and four great-nieces, Madelyn Sole, Rylin, Kennedy, and Blakelyn Coplin. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers, Norman and Dwight Matlack.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, January 30, 2026 at Lambert Tatman Funeral Home, Green St., Parkersburg with Jeff Sole officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens. Family will accept visitors from 12 – 1 p.m. on Friday, prior to service at the funeral home.
