Donald Soderquist Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Yurs Funeral Home of St. Charles on Feb. 6, 2025.
Donald (Doie) Soderquist died on Monday, February 3rd at age 63. He was greatly loved by his sons, his wife, his sisters, his granddaughter, and many friends and family members.
The son of Donald (Sody) and Delores Soderquist, Doie was born on December 9, 1961, in St. Charles, IL. He was very proud to continue the Soderquist Family legacy in the Fox Valley where he lived his entire life near his large extended family and many lifelong friends.
In 1989, he married his wife, Elizabeth. Together, they raised two sons, Patrick and Charlie. His sons were the center of his world. To them, he passed on his extraordinary navigational skills, sense of humor, exceptional work ethic, and resilience. Recently, a new light brightened his world as he was profoundly blessed with his beautiful and amazing granddaughter, Jordyn. Doie became Papa Don.
Doie graduated from St. Charles High School in 1980. He used his gift for mathematics and his passion for hard work in the field of construction where he primarily worked as an estimator and superintendent. Doie became a respected expert in his field, renowned as a mostly calm problem-solver and leader. Because of his remarkable ease with people and his humor, he was "The Guy who knows a Guy who could take care of that." And he was The Guy who always said thank you.
Doie's other passions included college football, meeting friends and family for breakfast, and taking long drives in his truck. Throughout his life, driving relaxed him. He loved scenic drives on rural roads, cross-country trips to visit his sisters, or Sunday drives to Lake Geneva. Seat warmer on. Radio tuned to The Steve Dahl Show, No Shoes Radio, or singing along with Jimmy Buffett. Just drive and enjoy the world.
Doie was a warm, generous, and loving man. He loved to laugh and make others laugh. If you needed a ride to or from O'Hare, Doie was your man. He said yes. He was a calm listener who gave a big strong hug, a silent presence, or a sarcastic, tension-breaking quip, as needed.
Donald is survived by his sons Patrick and Charles; his wife Elizabeth (Stankus); his granddaughter Jordyn; his sisters Desnee (Karl) Kramer, Donna Soderquist, Devon (Larry) Polly, and Dawn (Steve) Okano; and dear nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by his parents Donald (Sody) and Delores Soderquist, and his niece, Sara Soderquist-Powell.
As we gather to honor Doie's life and share our memories: Aloha shirts, vibrant colors, and warm laughter will be in order.
This Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, February 15th from 3-5 PM at Yurs Funeral Home of St. Charles, 405 East Main Street.
