Donald Ray Statum

Donald Ray Statum, 74, passed away in a local hospital with his loving wife by his side on Sunday, February 18, 2024. Donald liked hunting and fishing, especially when he went with his family members. He liked tinkering on things and repairing different items for family and friends. Donald was a prankster and loved telling a good joke. He worked for over 30 years at Waste Management/Chem Waste as a diesel mechanic and later as a Maintenance Supervisor. Donald loved his children and grandchildren. He loved spoiling his "fur babies" as well.
Those left to cherish Donald's memory are his wife of 43 years, Anita Statum; his children, Wendy Bond (Jeremy), Marc Chaisson (Becki); grandchildren, Genna Brown, Grayson Bond; siblings, Will Statum (Rhonda), Ben Statum (Linda), George Statum (Jessie), Pete Statum (Carolyn), LeDona Shoemake (Tony); a cousin who was more like a brother, Boyd Schrader (Margaret).
Donald was preceded in death by his parents, Lester "Pete" and Loretta Statum, and his brother, Shelton "Bill" Statum.
The family would like to thank the staff at West Calcasieu Cameron Hospital, specifically the ICU, ER, and 2nd floor, and Dr. Gamborg and Dr. Lannan, for their care and support during this trying time.
Home going services for Donald will be held at Houston River Baptist Church on Thursday, February 22, 2024, at 11 AM, with Pastor Lonnie Gothrup officiating. Burial will follow at Mimosa Pines Cemetery North. The family will receive family and friends at Johnson and Robison Funeral Home on Wednesday, February 21, 2024, from 5 to 8 PM and will resume visitation on Thursday at Houston River Baptist Church from 9 AM until time of service.
In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to "Women on a Mission" at Houston River Baptist Church.
