Donald Steinbrick Obituary

Donald "Don" E. Steinbrick 1939 - 2021
Putnam - Donald "Don" E. Steinbrick, 82, of Providence Pike, died Tuesday July 20, 2021, at UMASS Memorial University Hospital. He was the loving husband of the late Patricia Ann (Taylor) Steinbrick for 58 years. Born in Putnam, he was the son of the late Oscar and Jeannette (Neal) Steinbrick. Mr. Steinbrick was united in marriage to the former Patricia Ann Taylor on November 4, 1961. Patricia passed away on April 27, 2020.
He was a proud veteran of the Vietnam era serving with the United States Air Force, 551st Air Police Squadron, being honorably discharged at Otis Air Force Base on August 5, 1962.
Mr. Steinbrick began his working career at American Standard after which he sold cars at Mathieu Ford. He then went to work at Knox Glass starting as a welder and later becoming a mold maker for ten years, then he went to Star City Glass, Amfram Packing and Foster Forbes Glass. Donald then became a postal worker, working in both the Putnam and Quinebaug post offices.
Don was a member of the American Legion Post 13 in Putnam and the Putnam Lodge of Elks 574. He enjoyed the outdoors, both hunting and fishing, and always being with his friends and family. His love for Putnam was seen through his work with people on projects such as the skatepark, Beirut memorial, and the Daughters of the Revolution statue.
Don is survived by his two sons, David Steinbrick, and his wife Laurie of Cape Elizabeth, ME and Christopher Steinbrick of Putnam; his four grandchildren, Nicole Steinbrick of New London, Alexa and Oscar Steinbrick both of Putnam, and David Steinbrick, Jr. of Cape Elizabeth; his two nieces, Sherri France and her son Jake of Shelton and Wendy Stacey and her children Olivia Stacey and Jordan Stacey of Hamden. He was predeceased by his infant grandson, John Alexander Steinbrick and his brother, Charles Steinbrick.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Donald's family from 2:00p.m. to 4:00p.m. and 6:00p.m. to 8:00p.m. on Friday, August 6, 2021, in the Gilman Funeral Home and Crematory, 104 Church St., Putnam, CT 06260.
