Donald Thomas Obituary

It is time to say "Goodbye "to our amazing "Papa Don" who passed away peacefully in his home with his family by his side. Don was born on July 26, 1940 in Salt Lake City to Donald Blaine Thomas and Ethel Evon Petersen Thomas. He married Patricia Ann Johnson Walker on March 5, 1962. Together they had 5 remarkable children, Shon, who preceded him in death in February 2022, Kimberly Huber (Peter), Daron, Shelly Schmidt (Robert), and Patti. He had several grandchildren and great grandchildren who gave him a lifetime of love and happiness. We have lost a remarkable husband, father, grandfather, and good friend to many.

He was full of life, with an infectious sense of humor that he passed on to his family. He was an entrepreneur of many businesses and ventures, the largest and the one that he was most proud of is Salon Dante' & Day Spa, that he and his wife Pat began in 1962. Don lived large and had many hobbies, including getting his pilot's license and owning a small airplane. He was always helping his family with many projects.

He loved hunting, fishing, boating, jeeping, riding dirt bikes, water and snow skiing, riding horses, golf, golf, and more golf. He mostly loved traveling in his motorhome with his family and seeing the country, Mexico and Canada. His goal in life was to make sure that his family would always be taken care of.

Graveside services will be held at 3:00 pm on Monday, February 20. 2023 at Larkin Sunset Gardens, 1950 East Dimple Dell Road (10600 South), Sandy, UT. A visitation will be held from 1:00 to 2:45 pm prior to the graveside services.

Sending lots of love and light to Pat, Miss Beautiful Kim, Shelly, Patti, and your families. I have felt so loved and cared for by each of you over the years and I was deeply saddened to hear of Don´s passing. I don´t think I will ever forget how magical the Thomas Christmas party was the years I got to attend, and I know what a big part of that Dante was. I hope all of the love you put out into the world is returned to you ten fold as you grieve.

My deepest sympathies! I was lucky to have known Don and work for him and Pat many years ago. It was then that I met their children and become friends. Many good memories. Sending love and light to the family! With love, Renee (Tempest) Moriarity. RIP Don.

Pat and family I am so very sorry for your loss. I have many memories with the Thomas family I babysat for them many times, Don gave me a job as the receptionist at Salon Dante downtown in the Makoff store. Are families knew each other and did things together. I loved Don and Pat and their 5 kids. I´m also very sorry to hear about Shon passing last year I had no idea. My brother Ty called my mom and told her he saw Don´s obituary and mom called me to tell me. He was a great person who will be truly missed.
Sending love and hugs with thoughts and prayers to all his family.

Dante was a good friend of mine, from playing golf and having a few cocktails together. Don had more stories and a sense of humor that was matched by no one. On top of that he was a very caring man. Sorry for your loss Pat & family I´m sure he & Morrelli are looking down on us!

Don was a good friend and neighbor who was always willing to help you with the resources that you needed to take care of your property. I enjoyed our conversations and I will miss them. Know that all Griffeth family will miss him and that we are here to support the Thomas family in their needs as their family has provided for us in the past.
