Donald William Tollensdorf, 92, of South Haven, Michigan passed away in Stevensville, Michigan,
on Saturday, August 9, 2025. Donald was born on December 30, 1933, to Bernard and Dorothy
(Bodley) Tollensdorf in Odell, IL.
Donald married Shirley Mae (Jacobs) Tollensdorf on January 29, 1955. They shared 62 years of
marriage before her passing in 2017.
Donald worked for Natural Gas Pipeline as a service technician in Fairbury, IL and Sigourney, IA. He
retired in 1986. While in Sigourney, Don enjoyed playing golf, watching the Chicago Cubs and Bears
and reading. They then moved to Colorado to work for Cooper Industries. While working for Cooper
Industries, he travelled extensively – often working in Alaska. He retired from Cooper in 1997.
During his retirement in Colorado, Don restored his 1936 Chrysler, travelled with Shirley, and spent
a great deal of time with their neighbors and friends. In 2012, Don and Shirley moved to Michigan
to be near their children. In their early years in Michigan, Don was seen downtown every day
walking his daughter's dog. He proudly served in the U.S. military from 1954 - 1956. Don was a 32
degree Mason.
Donald is survived by his children; Donna (Larry) Zeppiero of South Haven and Mark Tollensdorf of
Commerce Township, MI. Also surviving is his brother John Tollensdorf of Fairbury, IL.
Donald is preceded by his parents, wife, sisters; Fay Kyburz, Frances Tollensdorf and brother;
Bernard Tollensdorf Jr.
