Donald L. Veneskey, a beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend, passed away peacefully on July 23, 2025, at the age of 92. A longtime resident of Willowick, Ohio, Don was a pillar of love and laughter in the lives of those who knew him. He will be dearly missed by his family, friends, neighbors, and even the furry companions he cherished, including his cherished cat, Miss Kitty.
Donald is survived by his sons, Don (Cindy) Veneskey and John (Sharon) Veneskey, along with eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren who adored him. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 69 years, Joanne Marie Veneskey, with whom he shared a wonderful life filled with shared dreams and accomplishments.
For 30 years, Don owned and operated DVATION Racing alongside his sons, fostering a spirit of teamwork and passion in everything they did. His generosity of spirit extended to supporting Joanne in her entrepreneurial endeavors for 22 years, as she ran two successful craft businesses: Joanne's Custom Quilting and Joanne's Wearable Arts and Hand Knits.
Don had a zest for life and a great sense of humor that brightened the days of all who crossed his path. He was known for his love of "The Great American Songbook," a passion for golf that led him to play in numerous senior leagues, and a joy for jazz music. In his earlier years, he enjoyed bowling and always found time for digging into home projects.
As a devoted father and grandfather, Don delighted in attending his grandchildren's activities, always encouraging and cheering them on. His laughter and the joy he brought to his family in their everyday moments will be fondly remembered and cherished.
In remembering Don, we invite all who knew and loved him to share a smile, a fond memory, or a laugh-just as he would have wanted. His spirit of joy, kindness, and love will continue to resonate in our hearts, reminding us to find joy in the little things.
A private family service will be held.
