Michael Dragas, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and a cherished friend to many. Born on October 7, 1935, in Cleveland, Ohio, Michael passed away on July 22, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of love, music, and devotion to his family.
Michael proudly served in the Army, embodying the values of integrity and dedication throughout his life. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Joann Dragas, as well as his parents and siblings. The love he shared with Joann was a testament to the strength of their bond and the foundation of their family.
A passionate musician, Michael dedicated much of his life to his craft. He was inducted into the Polka Hall of Fame in 2011, a recognition of his contributions that began with legendary figures such as Frankie Yankovic and continued through his collaborations with the Art Perko Orchestra, George Staiduhar, and the Fairport Jammers. For over three decades, he worked at Atlantic Records, where his passion for music blossomed.
Michael's love extended beyond music. He cherished his family dearly, including his children, Michael J. Dragas, Michele Dragas, and John Dragas (Tammy), and took immense joy in his role as a grandfather to Justine (Ian), Alex (Elizabeth), Dimitri, and John Peter, as well as great-grandfather to Isla, Finn, and another little one on the way. His nurturing spirit and unwavering support will be fondly remembered by all who knew him.
Visitation will take place on Monday, July 28, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Monreal Srnick Funeral Home, located at 35400 Curtis Blvd, Eastlake, OH 44095. A Funeral Mass will be on Tuesday, July 29, 2025, at 10:30 AM at St. Mary Magdalene Church, 32114 Vine St, Willowick, OH 44095. Michael will be laid to rest at All Souls Cemetery in Chardon.
In celebrating his remarkable journey, let us remember his passion for music, his love for gardening, and his zest for life on the golf course. Michael's legacy will continue to resonate in our hearts and through the melodies he created.

Mike was a joy to have around. We would reminisce about Euclid Beach and "back in the day" times. We will miss him playing with the Jammers. He always made time to come and talk with us. My condolences to the family. Sincerely, Alma Babuder
