Donald Everett Warren (Don), son of Everett H. and Janet T. Warren (Tuller), passed on February 12, after a courageous and brave battle with Parkinson's.
Born on October 18, 1942, in Northborough MA, Don was raised in Springfield, and later West Springfield MA. After graduating from the West Springfield High School, he then went on to study at West Virginia Wesleyan and Umass Amherst, where he graduated with a degree in mechanical engineering. Always a lifelong learner, he then returned to his studies mid-career, and earned an MBA from Western New England College.
Don lived in Southampton where he was active in town affairs. He always attended town meeting, and served on the Hampshire Regional School Committee, the Historical Commission, and the Public Safety Building Committee, and the Friends of the Southampton Greenway. Don was also an active member in the Lion's Club, and a troop leader for Boy Scout Troop 201 for many years.
Especially close to Don's heart was his faith. He was a member of the Southampton Congregational Church U.C.C, where he served in numerous roles. Don taught Sunday school for 15 years, served as a trustee, deacon, and member of the pastor search committee. One of his major contributions to the church was being a part of the elevator construction committee, allowing access to services for disabled parishioners.
Don was known for taking joy in his 1924 Ford Model T Depot Hack. He would spend his spare time roaming the backroads of New England, along with his Friends in the Western Mass Model T Club. These trips would allow him to enjoy the scenery, attend fairs, and participate in competitions like the hill climb, where he brought home many spark plug trophy's. He also enjoyed working on his property in the center of town with his antique tractors.
After college Don was employed at the Monsanto Chemical plant in Indian Orchard where he worked as a maintenance engineer. He then left to take a position with his father-in-law at Doty Ford in Easthampton until its closure in 1980. He then went back to his engineering roots and took a job at Miller Fluid Power which became Parker Hannifin. Here he worked traveling all over New York and New England designing, selling, and servicing motion control and automation equipment in factories and mills until his retirement in 2008.
Don is predeceased by his parents Everett and Janet, his brother David, sister Betsy, and his first wife Andrea. He is survived by his wife Ingrid (Derwicki Olson), his brother Douglas (Lora) of Westerly Rhode Island, brother-in-law Edwin Doty (Carol) of North Carolina, and his sons Matthew (Deenah) of Westfield, Nathaniel (Joellyn) of Belfast Maine, and Benjamin (Brigid) of Westhampton, and stepdaughters Lee-Ann Conner (Thomas) of Easthampton, Lynne Thorpe (Jay) of Turners Falls, and Jennifer Brown (Craig) of Longmeadow. Don was blessed with 9 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild, Nichole Riopelle, Anthony Warren, Emily Warren, Dana Warren, Billy Warren, Nicholas Conner, Jack Hubert, Spencer Hubert, Olivia Brown, Carson Brown, and Addison Riopelle. Don also leaves many nieces and nephews.
