Donald Watts Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by McKoon Funeral Home & Crematory on Jan. 30, 2026.
On January 27, 2026, Donald Anthony Watts of Newnan peacefully said goodbye to his family and friends on earth and was joyfully reunited with the loved ones who had gone before him. Waiting to welcome him home were his parents, Jack Watts and Virginia Williams Stowe; his brother, Jackie Watts; his sister, Cheryl Hardy; his beloved daughter, Tammy Ayers; and his mother-in-law, Sara Vinson.

Those who remain will miss him deeply, yet were richly blessed to have had him in their lives. He is survived by his loving wife of nearly 51 years, Cathy Vinson Watts; his daughter, Stacie Watts Helton, and her husband, Kenny; son-in-law Jeff Ayers; his brother and sister-in-law, Johnny and Ruth Watts; his sister, Anne Jenerou; and sister-in-law Judy Watts. He also leaves behind cherished grandchildren: Brittney Abraham and her husband, Jason; Justin Ayers and his companion, Lacey Robbins; Miranda Grayer and her husband, Jimell; and Riley Helton. There are also 2 beautiful great-granddaughters, Jovie Ann Ayers and Aryiah Rose Grayer.

Donnie was a humble and gentle man, quiet by nature, yet when he spoke, his words were often packed with humor and quick wit. He worked faithfully throughout his life, first as a painter, later as a truck driver hauling dynamite, and most recently with Owens Corning. In his quieter moments, he found joy in fishing, reading western novels, and watching classic westerns on television-especially Gunsmoke, which held a special place in his heart.

The family is sad to see him go, but rest assured that he has a new body in Jesus, and today he is a very rich man. As we say goodbye for now, like Festus said best, "Reckon I'll see you down the trail. Dodge City just won't be the same without ya".

The family will receive friends and loved ones on Monday, February 2nd, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at McKoon's Funeral Home. A funeral service will follow at 4:00 p.m., after which Donnie will be laid to rest at Oak Hill Cemetery. The service will be officiated by his son-in-law, Kenny Helton, and his nephew, Rocky Smith.
