Mr. Donald L. West

Mr. Donald L. West, 65, passed away peacefully at 8:15 am Tuesday, March 1, 2022, at his home after a long battle with cancer.
Donald was born February 2, 1957, in Galesburg the son of Bobby J. "Bob" and Lois J. (Kilpatrick) West. He married Vickie Shaw in 1975 in Galesburg. He later married Cathy Hardister in 1999 in Knoxville, Illinois. She survives.
Don is survived by his parents, Bob and Lois West of Galesburg; his son, Eric West of Olivehill, Tennessee; his brothers, Dennis (Cheryl) West of Petersburg, Illinois and Dave West of Galesburg; his sister, Jeanie (Nick) Aldrich of Paducah, Kentucky; a grandson, Samuel West and several nieces and nephews. Don is preceded in death by his brother, Dale April 3, 2002.
Donald started working for Illinois Department of Corrections in 1982 and retired from Henry C. Hill Correctional Center in 2007 after 25 years of services as a Major. He graduated from Galesburg High School in 1975. Donald was an active member of the Ranch Riders Club with the Cloud 9 Ranch in Caulfield, Missouri.
Donald was raised in the Apostolic Pentecostal faith.
Don's wishes were to be cremated. A Celebration of Don's life will be held Saturday, April 9, 2022, at 2:00 pm Harley's Reception Hall, 2243 Grand Avenue, Galesburg, Illinois, 61401. Memorials may be made to Ranch Riders at Cloud 9 Ranch, 2810 Cloud 9 Drive, Caulfield, Missouri, 65626.
