John was born in Canandaigua and was the son of John and Helen (Gillmor) West. He attended Canandaigua schools and was a graduate of Canandaigua Academy, class of 1955. John earned an associate degree from FLCC. He worked as night auditor at the Woodcliff Hotel and Spa, in Fairport, for 30 years. John enjoyed reading, camping, golfing and spending time with family and friends.
A celebration of life gathering will be held Friday, November 14, from 3-6pm, at the Twisted Rail Brewery, 169 Lakeshore Drive, Canandaigua. Interment will be in East Bloomfield Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Legion Post 256, 454 N. Main St., Canandaigua, NY 14424. Arrangements are by Johnson-Kennedy Funeral Home, Inc., Canandaigua. Condolences may be offered at www.johnsonkennedy.com
