Donald Paul Wiggin

Berwick, ME: It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Donald "Don" Paul Wiggin on July 30, 2025, after a brief illness. Don was born on December 3, 1943 in York, Maine to Raymond and Alice (Gallagher) Wiggin. Don spent his entire childhood in York, and graduated from York High School. After several years at Lowell Tech he returned to Maine. In 1970 Don married the love of his life, Violeta, and was a devoted husband and father.

Don will always be known as being a kind and gentle soul. He was quiet on the surface but had a wonderful sense of humor and delighted in telling Dad jokes to his grandsons. He had a passion for the natural world and spent a lot of his younger years hiking, fishing, gardening, and exploring the White Mountains of New Hampshire. He shared his love of the outdoors with his family, with regular trips to local swimming areas, picnics, and state parks with White Lake and Chocorua Lake being some of his favorites.

After retiring from the Benjamin Walk Corporation, Don enjoyed walking his dog, watching the Red Sox, and spending time with family. He is survived by his daughter Catherine (Wiggin) Gross, her husband Erik and their two sons Nathan and James, his brother David Wiggin, sister Dianne Laughlin, three nieces, and numerous great nieces, nephews, and sisters-in-law. He is predeceased by his parents Raymond and Alice Wiggin, and wife Violeta (Abellar) Wiggin. His steady presence will be missed by all who knew him.

The family invites all who knew him to a Memorial Service on Saturday, August 23, 2025 at 10:30am at St. Martin's Church, 120 Maple Street, Somersworth, NH 03878.
