Donavon H. Stuhr

Donavon Stuhr, 82, of Blomkest, died Tuesday, January 6, 2026, at his home. His funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 10, at Svea Lutheran Church, with visitation one hour prior to the service at the church. The service will also be streamed on the church's YouTube page. Interment with military honors will be in the church cemetery. Memorials are preferred to the Blomkest Community Center. Donavon Harvey Stuhr was born October 6, 1943, in Willmar, Minnesota, the son of Harvey and Carol (Peterson) Stuhr. He grew up on the family farm near Blomkest, attended elementary school in Blomkest, and graduated from Willmar High School in 1961. On August 1, 1964, he married Diane Thonvold at West Lake Lutheran Church near Sunburg. They made their home in Blomkest near the family farm. They were blessed with four children - Denise, Scott, Mark, and Stephen.

Donavon farmed the family land near Blomkest his entire life. In addition to farming, he worked as a crop adjuster for Farmers Mutual and as a DeKalb seed corn dealer.

He was a member of Svea Lutheran Church. Donavon served for several years in the National Guard and was a member of the American Legion. He was also a longtime member of Pheasants Forever and helped with many chapter banquets. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing cards, watching sports, snowmobiling, and clearing snow for the residents of Blomkest-whether they asked him to or not. He especially enjoyed having coffee at the Blomkest Community Center, taking photos of his activities, and sharing those photos with anyone who would look.

Donavon is survived by three children: Denise (Larry) Davis of Blomkest, Mark Stuhr (Katy Lundell-Stuhr) of Blomkest, and Stephen Stuhr (Chandra Ebbers) of Willmar; five grandchildren: Morgan, Madalyn and Nathan Davis, and Grace and Ben Stuhr; and his significant other of 26 years, Donna King. He is also survived by two sisters: Constance (John) Chapin of Willmar and Lois Kadrmas of Chaska; along with several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Diane, in 1996; his infant son, Scott, in 1970; a sister, Adele Klar; and two brothers-in-law, Clarence Kadrmas and Alan Klar.
