Donis J. Long, 92 of Speedway, passed away January 17, 2026, with her devoted family at her side. She was born in Illinois to Ermil and Doris Haydock, but was raised in Greenfield, Indiana. After graduating from Greenfield H.S., Donis then went on to nursing school in 1953 at Methodist Hospital. She practiced nursing there and at VA Hospital until she met her beloved husband, Tom. They married in 1955 and started a family of 4 children. Donis was a loving mother and Grammy who showed her love and devotion through action. Whether it was making a delicious meal or our favorite birthday cakes, playing with her grandkids or just helping any one of us when there was a need, she was always a loving presence to us all. In addition to her family, her many other favorite things included enjoying a Coke and reading the newspaper every day, volunteering at Ronald McDonald House, traveling, spending time at the beach, playing cards, occasional trips to the casino and gathering for pizza parties with her family.
Donis is survived by her children Marcia Ferguson, Brad (Debbie) Long, Beth (Jeff) King, Julie (Dave) Brosman; grandchildren, Megan Wathen, Danielle (Kevin) Shaw, Sabrina (Mitch Brown, Katie (Matt) Meiser, Evan (Maranda) Brosman; great-grandchildren, Dane, Hadleigh, Sophia, Lydia, Harper, Levi, Emelia, Walker, Ethan and Everleigh; and her sister Jill Stoliker.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband Tom Long, her parents Ermil and Doris Haydock, brothers Jack, Bill and Bob Haydock and granddaughter Hannah King.
A private family celebration will be held at a later date.
