Donna Marie (Arndt) Berlin

Life-long Berwick resident Donna Marie (Arndt) Berlin, 87, passed away on August 12, 2025 while in residence at Celebration Villa. Born in 1937, Donna was a loving and dedicated daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, cousin, niece and friend. She was a graduate of Berwick High School in 1955, and earned a BA in Elementary Education from Cedar Crest College (Allentown, PA) in 1959. Using her passion for teaching young children, Donna served as a substitute and homebound teacher while raising her own family. Later, Donna served as an elementary school teacher throughout Berwick Area School District with her last assignment at Salem Elementary School before retiring in 1998.

Donna loved to travel and embarked on many adventures with family and friends, including several cruises and tours in over 15 countries and throughout much of the United States. She was a life-long member of Bower Memorial United Methodist Church and belonged to a number of social organizations – Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, Twentieth Century Delphians, and Gold Card Teachers Organization. She gathered monthly with different groups of close friends to dine out, take "field trips" or to play cards or dominoes.

Donna believed in serving her community and volunteered in many capacities. She "worked" with the Red Cross bloodmobile, the Berwick Hospital gift shop, and served long hours as an election poll worker. She volunteered at golf tournaments and other events for the Community Giving Foundation and served on their Grants Committee. One of her greatest pleasures was her time spent with the Berwick Historical Society. She could often be found at the Jackson Mansion watering plants, assisting with renovations, and working in the Carriage House Gift Shop. Dressed in 1800's style costume, she also gave mansion tours and helped to host special events.

Donna's greatest joy was her family and time spent with them. In 1960, she married the love of her life, Edward (Lanny) Berlin. She was preceded in death by him and by her parents Charles and Florence (Bower) Arndt. She is survived by her brother David Arndt (Brenda Arndt, Dallas, TX), daughter Tracey Berlin (Gary Trapuzzano, Eagleville, PA) and son Bradley Berlin (Brenda Berlin, Berwick, PA); along with grandchildren Christopher Anderson (Misty and Keden Chapman, Bloomsburg, PA) and Sara Berlin (Travis Letkowski, Berwick, PA) and great grandsons Landon and Andrew Letkowski (Berwick, PA).

Donna's life is captured in the many photo albums in her home. For her, those albums are filled with memories of a life well-lived. For her family, they are a reflection of her – her gentle nature, her quiet strength, her adventurous spirit, her beautiful smile, her grace and poise, and her loving heart. She will be missed by so many.

A visitation will be held Friday, August 29, 2025 from 10:00 A.M until the time of the funeral service at 11:00 A.M. at the Mayo Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Chestnut Street, Berwick, with the Rev. George Price of Berwick Methodist Church officiating.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Berwick Historical Society, the Community Giving Foundation or the McBride Library.
