Our beloved mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, Donna Jean Metters Bevan, passed away peacefully at age 96 on February 23, 2024, and joined her eternal companion, Ross Bevan. Donna was born May 9, 1927, to devoted parents-Roy and Mildred Metters. She was an only child who was adored by her parents. Her dad taught her that when there is work to be done-make it fun! Donna grew up in
Salt Lake City, Utah, and graduated from Granite High School in 1945. She met her sweetheart and husband of 77 years on a blind date set up by Wanda Birch, her friend, and his niece. She married Ross Bevan in the Salt Lake Temple on January 23, 1946. They lived in Salt Lake City. They loved each other and had six wonderful children. As a family, they enjoyed camping and fishing. Donna was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served in many callings during her life including Relief Society President, Sunday School teacher, and a counselor in the Primary Presidency. She loved volunteering at Oakcrest Girls Camp, and she served in the Salt Lake Temple.
Her first job in the 1940's was as an elevator operator in downtown Salt Lake. Later in life she worked for Granite School District in the District Offices for about 20 years. Donna was a "goer" and a "doer." She loved going on adventures and traveling with her husband and their friends.
She loved her husband Ross, her entire family, chocolate, Sunday family dinners, birthdays, holidays, games, picnics, water fights, stories, nursery rhymes, Disney memorabilia, vacations, crossword puzzles, family history, calls and visits from family, doll houses, lilacs, sparkly clothes, high heels, April fool's day, and forever brown hair. She once said that her favorite thing to do was to play with her grandchildren.
Donna is survived by her children-Dee Ann (Richard) Ludwig, Craig (Renee) Bevan, Bruce (Kathy) Bevan, Keith (Sandy) Bevan, Sherri's husband Martin (Michelle) Christensen, and Scott (Heidi) Bevan, 21 grandchildren and 50 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Ross Bevan, who died on April 29, 2023, her parents Roy and Mildred Metters, and her daughter Sherri Lee Christensen. A viewing will be held on Saturday, March 2, from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. followed by a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. at the Hillview Ward Building located at 1361 East 4000 South,
