Austin Bishop Obituary

Austin Francis Xavier Bishop

November 14, 1939 - February 2, 2026

Austin Francis Xavier Bishop, of Chester, died February 2, 2026, from injuries sustained in a fall on the ice. He was born on November 14, 1939, in Cambridge, MA, to Austin Arthur Bishop and Adelaide Marie Delery Bishop. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Dale Owen Bishop; his beloved daughter, Loraine Delery Bishop; his brothers, Richard H. Bishop (Jan), Lawrence H. Bishop (Charlotte); and many splendid nieces and nephews. He mourned the recent loss of his sister, Lucille Marie Bishop. A graduate of Highland Springs High School, Class of 1958, a class he loved, he continued his education at Randolph-Macon College, BS in math, 1962, and the University of Utah, MS in math, 1964. He taught at Randolph-Macon College for 35 years, retiring in 1999. He was a kind and generous man of deep integrity who didn't take much in life very seriously. He liked to keep in touch with loved ones, and he lived for and adored his many wonderful dogs: Flirt, Julie, and Taylor, especially.

So sorry to hear of your loss, Dale and Rainie. Our families had so many adventures back in the "good old days." So many memories! I am visualizing a reunion with my parents and him, where they catch up and reminisce in the Great Beyond. He is remembered fondly, and our prayers are with you.
