FOSTER, RIDonna Marie Boucher, 69, of
Foster, Rhode Island, passed away peacefully, on Wednesday, December 16, at Morgan Rehabilitation and Health Care Center, Johnston, after a courageous two-year battle with pancreatic cancer, surrounded by love. She was the devoted wife of Blaise D. Boucher, with whom she shared 23 years of marriage, having been married on February 2, 2002.
Born on March 27, 1956, Donna lived a life rooted in faith, service, and quiet creativity. A communicant of St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church in Foster, her faith guided her daily life and her commitment to helping others. She was deeply involved in parish activities, generously giving her time to the church food bank and the Christmas bazaar, always seeking ways to serve those in need.
Donna dedicated over 34 years of her professional life to the State of Rhode Island, where she worked as a senior tax auditor. She approached her career with diligence, integrity, and a strong sense of responsibility, earning the respect of colleagues and those she served.
Creativity was one of Donna's greatest joys. She was a gifted seamstress whose talents extended to embroidery, knitting, smocking, quilting and heirloom sewing. Her handmade creations were labors of love-thoughtful, beautiful pieces that reflected her patience, skill, and generous heart. She and Blaise greatly enjoyed cruising together, especially a 58 day cruise and train trip to Europe and back after her 2023 retirement.
Donna was a long-time member of the Smocking Arts Guild of America, having served as President of Yankee Chapter of SAGA, in
Cumberland, RI. She was also an active member of two additional chapters in the greater Boston area, Charles River Smockers and Bewitching Stitchers. Donna treasured her time with her fellow stitchers, at meetings, classes and conventions, and will be deeply missed.
In addition to her beloved husband Blaise, Donna leaves her mother Ruth Brown of Pensacola Florida; her cherished son, Edward Valois, and his wife Crystal, of Fort Hood, Texas, and her granddaughter, Brianna. She is also survived by her sisters, Lorna Brown of Pensacola, Florida and Holly Mcternan of Lakeland, Florida, along with extended family members and friends who will miss her deeply. She was the daughter of the late William James Brown III.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to Donna's Life Celebration to be held with Visiting Hours on Monday, December 22, 2025 from 4 to 8 PM and continue on Tuesday, December 23, 2025 at 9 AM in the J. J. Duffy Funeral Home, 757 Mendon Road, Rt. 122, Cumberland. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 AM in the St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, 116A Danielson Pike,
Foster, Rhode Island. Burial will follow at Precious Blood Cemetery, Woonsocket.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the St. Paul the Apostle Church Food Bank, 116A Danielson Pike,
Foster, RI 02825.
