Donna Jean Carter, a cherished mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, left us peacefully on Monday, January 26, 2026, at the age of 78. Born in Paragould on August 31, 1947, Donna lived her life with unyielding strength and grace, leaving an indelible mark on all who had the honor of knowing her.
A proud graduate of Greene County Tech High School, Class of 1966, Donna embarked on her professional journey in the banking industry immediately after high school. Her career spanned an impressive 48 years, beginning at Security Bank, continuing at Union Planters Bank, and culminating at Focus Bank. Throughout her tenure, she was admired for her dedication and commitment to her work, earning the respect of colleagues and clients alike.
An avid reader, Donna found joy in the pages of mystery and suspense novels, often devouring a book a day. Her passion for literature brought her much happiness, as she preferred stories over television, immersing herself in the worlds created by her favorite authors.
Donna's unwavering faith was a cornerstone of her life. She was a devoted member of Brown's Chapel Baptist Church, where she found a strong community and a deep sense of belonging.
Donna is survived by her loving son, Brian Carter of Youngstown, Ohio; her beloved grandson, Kristopher Carter of Greenbrier, Arkansas; her sisters, Betty Rodgers of Jonesboro, Paula (Keith) Kirby of Kennett, and Kathy Phipps of Walnut Ridge; her brother, Ronnie (Margaraet) Phipps of Paragould; and many nephews and nieces. She will be profoundly missed by all who loved her. She was preceded in death by her parents, Argene and Dorothy Smith Phipps; brothers, Jerry Phipps and Michael Phipps; and sister, Brenda Edmiston.
In honor of her remarkable life, a visitation will take place at Brown's Chapel Baptist Church on Friday, January 30, 2026, starting at 12:00 PM. A funeral service celebrating Donna's life will begin at 1:00 PM, followed by her burial at Brown's Chapel Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please send memorials to Brown's Chapel Baptist Church.
As we gather to celebrate her life and legacy, we invite all who knew and loved Donna to join us in this moment of remembrance. Her spirit will live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate to share in her journey.
