Donna Mary Chambers

Donna (Lynch) Chambers of Charlestown passed peacefully into eternal rest at Westerly Hospital on March 11th, 2026. Donna was born on April 16, 1947, in Providence, Rhode Island, to Joseph and Mary (Foti) Lynch. Married to Michael Chambers for 56 years, she was the mother to Sarah Eager (Kevin) of Smithfield and Benjamin Aaron (Lisa) of California. She was the incredibly proud grandmother of Eleanor, Aidan, and Lucy Eager and Emi and Maddie Chambers. They were all the loves of her life.

Donna was a lifelong educator earning a Bachelor of Education from Rhode Island College and a Master of Education from the University of Rhode Island. She was directly responsible for a large number of people receiving their high school diplomas through the External Diploma Program in Virginia and Rhode Island. She worked closely with the Genesis Center in Providence, developing career training programs. Donna was a long-time member of the Chariho School Committee serving the area and supporting educational programs, her highest priority. Through RICAN, she delivered food weekly to homebound residents in the local area.

Known for her generous spirit and inclusion, she had a remarkable ability to make people feel seen and valued. Whether promoting success in others or offering encouragement or a helping hand to strangers and loved ones alike, she gave of herself freely to others. If you met her only once, she considered you a friend.

Donna found happiness in simple moments, time with her family and many friends, celebrations with loved ones and meaningful conversations. She was an avid knitter and often shared her talent with love filled creations for family and friends. She generously gave her time to teaching her friends to knit so as add another person to her knitting circle. She loved to travel and especially enjoyed spending time in the Azores.

Though she is no longer with us, her voice, her courage, her joy and her love live on in the many lives she touched and the in the causes she championed. Donna will be deeply missed but forever remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
