Donna Sue Chism

1961 - 2026

Donna Sue Chism, age 65, passed away on February 21, 2026, in Wren, Mississippi. Born on January 31, 1961, in Bruce, Mississippi, she graduated from Okolona High School in 1979. Donna was known for her tenacious and feisty spirit, traits that shaped her life as a loving wife, mother, and grandmother.

Married to her devoted husband, David Chism, for 36 wonderful years, Donna embraced the opportunity to travel the world alongside him during his service in the United States Navy. Their adventures together were a source of cherished memories, filled with explorations and experiences that defined their life together.

As a proud mother and grandmother, Donna found her greatest joy in her son, Aaron Chism, and daughter, Heather Dettmers, who provided her with endless pride. She adored being called "Nana" by her grandson, Zachary. Aaron is married to Heather Houk, and Heather is married to Mike Dettmers. In addition to her immediate family, Donna is survived by her sister, Linda Palmer (Ronnie), her aunt, Etoy Chism, and many beloved nieces and nephews.

Beyond her family, Donna held dear the memories of her best friends, Patsy Thomas, and Lee Robertson, who shared in the laughter and love throughout their lives.

Donna's passions included gardening and working in her yard, where she found solace and enjoyment, nurturing her love for nature in her own backyard.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on March 3, 2026, at 2:00 PM at E. E. Pickle Funeral Home in Amory, Mississippi, with visitation beginning at 1 pm until the service hour. Bro. Robert Fowlkes will officiate. Burial will follow at Greenbriar Cemetery in Becker, MS. Family and friends are invited to pay their respects and honor the vibrant life of Donna Sue Chism.

Donna is remembered fondly by all who knew her for her strength, love, and indomitable spirit. She joins her parents, her husband, David Chism, her brother Rick Martin, and her dear friend Patsy Thomas in eternal rest.
