On Saturday February 15th 2025 Donna Lee Cochran left "Healing Grace" (AFH in Corvallis Oregon) she went home into the arms of her loving Saviour Jesus Christ.
On April 28th 1943 at the Troutdale Ranch near Jordan Valley Idaho, little Donna Lee made her entrance into the world at home, and on the kitchen table no less, with her maternal grandmother Fretwell assisting at the birth with the doctor.
Daughter of Mr. Clifford Altig and Mrs. Isabel Altig (Fretwell)
Some of her dearest memories were of her Daddy and Momma. Clifford worked as a foreman at the mercury mine and the recollection she told was about how he cared about the men on his crew and their families as well. It sounds as though Clifford was a take-charge kind of man with the heart of a lion. Donna recalls her mom Isabel getting up to make breakfast and coffee and they would have time together talking about what was happening at the mine and with the community families. It also seemed as if they were a very hospitable family and shared meals and life with those around them.
Donna's family even allowed her to go to school in another state so she could get a better education and it is believed she resided with her Grandmother during the school year. Then, she returned home in the summers.
Donna had two siblings, a brother: Everett Altig and a sister: Olive Davis (Altig)
One of her childhood best friends was her cousin: Barbara
Donna married Gordon Cochran
Her step-children: Shawn, David, Michelle, and Robin
Donna's immediate family are her daughter: Trena Lee of Albany, Oregon.
Granddaughter: Aliyah (aka: Apollo) Grandson: Hayden
Donna was a caregiver at some time in her life and spoke many times about her experiences while she did that job.
Her degree was in "Medical Technology" and she worked and retired from the records department at "Good Samaritan Hospital" in Corvallis, Oregon
During her education, she was awarded from her class "The Most Outstanding Medical Record Technology Student" in 1977.
Some of Donna Lee's Favorite Things
During her time at "Healing Grace"
Stories about her life, the red nightgown her daughter Trena got her, the color purple, Dancing, Diet Pepsi, Elephants, pizza, "Pirate Booty" puffed cheese, Chocolate, and her friendship with "Cappy"
She loved watching "The Waltons", "Heartland", and "Little House on the Prairie"
She found a love for "Nascar" too. Watching it with others on Sunday afternoon
The things I'd like to add are this, at over 80 years old with us only having a handful of time with her, the things we knew were this, Donna absolutely admired her Momma and Daddy. Her heart was with her Trena, Aliyah, and Hayden. Our bird's eye view in 10 months wasn't her whole life by any means. The drawings and coloring pages of a young Aliyah who made them for her Grandma are still here. A few cards that said "I love you mommy" from her daughter Trena. A beautiful thank you card from Trena to her mom verbalizing her appreciation. Black and white photographs of years ago and this world was a different place then with it's own trials, troubles, friendships, and family relationships. So many photos of children whoever they are, nieces, nephews, grandchildren, stepchildren. She still remembered you.
When we go home to our Forever home " things" don't last forever. However, the mark of each generation can be in a smile, a laugh, emotions, eyes, hands, feet and more.
The person you knew then may not be the person who left here. Donna's parents left a legacy and so has she. It's not always perfection, but she loved you all.
Donna came to us here at "Healing Grace" owned and operated by Dee Goodrich in Corvallis Oregon in April of 2024.
We thoroughly enjoyed her timely sense of humor, Pam (Dees employee), Dee, and all her housemates in Corvallis miss her and are so thankful for the time we had with her.
Donna was preceded in death by: her father: Clifford, mother: Isabel and sister: Olive.
Also (previous husband) Gordon and his son David.
Donna Lee Cochran's wishes were to be cremated and laid to rest with her mother and father in Oakville Cemetery in Albany, Oregon.
It's our hope that family will be able to come together to do that in the future.
For now "Healing Grace" staff gives Thanks.
To: Demoss-Durdan Funeral Home, and also the Hospice staff at Lumina Hospice for your good care and kindness.
Home Health "First Call" wound care nurses worked diligently to bring her to a much more healthy place in her body before she went home to be with our Father.
Written with much love and blessed at the heart by the Donna we knew.
