Donna Lee Degan, 94, of Topeka passed away in the comfort of her home surrounded by loved ones. Donna was born July 7, 1929 in Topeka. She was the eldest child of George Welda Kelly and Nellie Turner Kelly.
In 1944, Donna graduated from Topeka High School and continued her education at Clark's Business College. She worked for Southwestern Bell for 5 years, then attained a position at Luce Press Clippings as a reader for 26 years until her retirement.
She was a member of the Four Square Church. Donna married George Degan in 1951, they later divorced. She raised four children as a single mother since the death of her former husband in 1961.
Donna is survived by her sister, Ruthie Carvalho of Independence, Kansas; her sons, Joe and Tony Degan; her daughters, Amy Randol and Kelly (Bill) Chapman all of Topeka. Also surviving are grandchildren, Kayla Jaynes, Joey Degan, Angie (Jaret) Burkey, Brad Randol, Billy Chapman, Jaime (George) Fluke and many great and great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her siblings, Wally Kelly, Billy Bob Kelly, Gene Kelly, Rueben Kelly, Patsy Myrick, Kathy Watson, her son-in-law Daniel Randol and a great grandson, Brent Jaynes.
Donna's loved one will remember her as a strong-willed and witty individual. She was a dedicated and loving mother who enjoyed cooking for her family.
Graveside service and interment will be held at 12:00 pm on Wednesday at Rochester Cemetery in Topeka. Parker-Price & Davidson is assisting the family. To read her full obituary or leave the family a message, please visit www.ppdfuneral.com
