Donna Mae Dohrmann, 84, passed away Monday, February 24, 2025, at Fairview Care Center in Dodge Center, after a yearlong battle of brain cancer. She was born April 18, 1940, in Dodge County, MN, to Wilton (Bud) and Doris (Erickson) Vrieze. She attended West Concord High School and after graduation, she went to beauty school in Austin, MN. On July 2, 1960, Donna married Robert Edward Dohrmann at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, IA. Following their marriage, they made their home in Pine Island and West Concord before settling in rural Mantorville with their 5 children.
Donna's career started as a beautician, then moved to a receptionist at US Bank and then finished her career at Crenlo. All along her working career, she continued to do hair for people at her home and sometimes made house calls. Donna enjoyed the fair and loved to work in the 4-H food stand. She enjoyed her flower gardens, refinishing furniture, crafting and feeding birds. She also canned and shared with her children. No vegetable went un-canned from the garden. Donna was most famous for her angel food cakes, rosettes and krumkake. She was an excellent cook in the kitchen, and everyone was always welcome at the table. After 50 years on the farm, Donna moved to Kasson. She continued to sew and started her new hobby of embroidery, making towels and cards, which were gifted to many.
She became a member and baptized at the First Presbyterian Church in Kasson and was part of the Presbyterian Women's Group.
She is survived by her children, Dawn (Duane) Miller of Dodge Center, MN, Kevin (Debbie) Dohrmann of Kasson, MN, Julie (Craig) Koop of Pine Island, MN, Bradley (Sheryl) Dohrmann of Dodge Center, MN, and Rhonda Dohrmann of Dodge Center, MN; grandchildren, Nathan (Heather), Bryce (Adrienne), and Mark (Stevie) Gransee; Eric (Erika) and Keith (Laura) Dohrmann; Tyler (Jennifer) and Chelsea Koop; and Courtney (Drew) Folie and Devin (Lila Gronseth) Dohrmann; 14 great-grandchildren; brothers, Roger Vrieze of Mantorville, MN and Lawrence (Peggy) Vrieze of Cottage Grove, MN; sisters-in-laws Phyllis Schutz of Pine Island, MN and Linda Vrieze of West Concord, MN; brother-in law Dan Olson of Dodge Center, MN; and other extended family members.
