Donna M. Empey

Donna M. Empey, age 82, Marshfield, passed away on Sunday, December 21, 2025, at Marshfield Medical Center.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, January 10, 2026, at Christ Lutheran Church, Marshfield, where the visitation will be from 9:30 am until service time. Rev. Andrew Belt will officiate. Rembs Funeral Home is assisting the family.
Donna was born on July 19, 1943, in Redwing, MN, to Richard and Verna (Kloth) Schmidt, Jr. She was a 1961 graduate of Dorchester High School. She was united in marriage to Allen H. Empey on October 5, 1963, at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Dorchester.
Aa a young lady, Donna began employment at Wausau Daily Herald newspaper. She then worked at Medford Clinic, until 1970 when she and Allen moved to Casco, Door County, to manage a cheese factory. In 1974 they moved to Rozellville where they managed Grand Meadow Dairy for 28 years. In 1991 Donna began working at Fleming Corporation until 2003 when she began working at Security Health Plan until her retirement in 2013. She continued to work part time at Belvedere Supper Club until 2020.
Donna enjoyed knitting, especially her bridal Barbie dolls, of which she created all the designs herself. She also liked cooking, baking, going to the lake up north, dancing, traveling, music, having lunch with their friends, and attending her grandchildren's events.
She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Allen, and their children, Jayne (Tony) Kromanaker of Appleton and Jon (Peggy) Empey of Auburndale. She is also survived by five grandchildren, Ben (Skylee) Kromanaker, Rachel (Brevon) Merritt, Carver (Louisa) Empey, Parker Empey, and Keegan Empey, and a great granddaughter, Ingrid Empey. She is further survived by a brother, Terry (Kathy) Schmidt of Reno NV.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a grandson, Nathaniel Empey, a great granddaughter, Madeline Empey, and a brother, Verlyn Schmidt.
