Donna S. Gilbert
60, of Greenville, went to be with the Lord unexpectedly after a long illness on Thursday, September 11, 2025.
She was born March 21, 1965, in Dayton, to her parents, Donald R. and Joyce Ann (Coben) Gilbert.
Donna was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Hamilton; mom, Joyce Gilbert; maternal grandparents, Charlie and Carrie Coben; and paternal grandparents, Donald “Red” and Rosie Gilbert.
She is survived by her dad, Donald Gilbert; brothers, Lonnie Hundley, Bryan Gilbert, Donald (Mary) Gilbert, and David (Stacy) Gilbert; and nieces, nephews, aunts, and uncles.
Donna will be remembered as a woman whose heart knew no bounds. To her family, friends, and even strangers, she was more than just herself, she was a mother to all. Her nurturing spirit and open arms provided comfort, guidance, and love to anyone who needed it.
Known for her friendliness and unwavering kindness, Donna had a gift for making people feel welcome and cared for. She was always the first to step in when someone was in need, offering her time, her ear, or a helping hand without hesitation. Whether it was a word of encouragement, a warm meal, or simply her steady presence, Donna lifted the spirits of those around her in ways that will never be forgotten.
A visitation will be held Tuesday, September 16 from 5-7PM at PREBLE MEMORY GARDENS FUNERAL CENTER, West Alexandria. The funeral service will begin at 11AM on Wednesday, September 17 at the funeral home with Pastor Joe LeMaster officiating. Donna will be laid to rest beside her mom, Joyce, at Preble Memory Gardens Cemetery.
Contributions may be made to the funeral home to assist with Donna’s final expenses.
