Donna Hatton Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by The Wilton Mortuary on Apr. 23, 2024.
Donna J. (Burgess) Hatton, age 88, of Peoria, IL, peacefully passed away at home with her family by her side on April 22, 2024, in Peoria, IL.
She was born on September 26, 1935, in Janesville, WI, to Leslie and Wilma (Welch) Burgess. She married Wayne Hatton on January 17, 1953, in Fond Du Lac, WI. He preceded her in death on December 1, 1977.
She was also preceded in death by three children, Gregory Hatton, Toni Hatton, and Julie Hatton; her parents; and her brothers Ray "Butch" Burgess and Bob Burgess.
Donna is survived by five children: David Hatton of Beaver Dam, WI, Michael Hatton of Trivoli, IL, Laura (Kevin) Weaver of Creve Coeur, IL, Chris (Laura) Hatton of Lakewood Village, TX, and Joleen Parsons of Peoria, IL; fifteen grandchildren: Scottie, Bradley, Nolan, Ryan, Bryce, Michael, Kevin Wayne, Steven Ray, Wayne Gregory, Christopher, Shelley Rae, Shawn, Amy, Amanda, Sara and Bryan; six great-grandchildren: Kristie, Kirsten, Steve, Maverick, Nick, Joshua, Paige, Angelina and Kaylee; and two great-great grandchildren: Calloway and Emersyn. She is also survived by her sister Judy Riley of Fond Du Lac, WI, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Donna lived out the first half of her life being mom and wife. She was the main support for Wayne's insurance business and the main cheerleader for her kids during their school years. From serving on the PTA and chairing the annual school carnival at Glen Oak Grade school in Peoria, to sitting in the bleachers watching her children participate in sports, cheerleading or marching band, her kids were top priority.
Donna's later years were spent being Donna. She continued her life of service to others as an Estée Lauder consultant at Bergner's, where she took pride in making all customers feel special each time they visited. Once retired, she traveled year-round visiting her adult children in California, Texas, Tennessee, and Wisconsin. From the time she was a teenager, Donna has always had a heart for motorcycles. That's how she met Wayne. She was a member of the PeoTaz Chapter of ABATE, and at age 55 she started attending the Sturgis Bike Week for 15 years.
Memorial contributions may be made in Donna's memory to the Greater Peoria Honor Flight at https://www.greaterpeoriahonorflight.org/online-donation.
A visitation will be held on Friday, April 26, 2024, from 4:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. with funeral services to immediately follow at The Wilton Mortuary (2101 N. Knoxville Ave., Peoria, IL 61603). Burial will be at St. Mary's Cemetery in West Peoria at a later date.
