Donna I Hawkins

Donna Hawkins, a cherished seamstress whose loving stitches wove together the fabric of her community, passed away peacefully on February 26, 2026, at the age of 75 in McHenry, Illinois. Born on January 27, 1951, in Pana, Illinois, Donna's heart and home were always open, mirroring the warmth and vitality of the gardens she so tenderly cultivated.

Donna's true passion lay in the simple pleasures of life. She reveled in the harmony of music and enjoyed gardening just as she nurtured the bonds of family and friendship.

Her legacy of love is carried on by her adoring daughter, Katherine Brown, and the light of her life, her granddaughter, Victoria Brown. Donna's brother Darrell Barker, and her sister Nancy Bentz, alongside her brother-in-law Tony Bentz, will fondly remember her warmth and kindness. Donna now joins in eternal peace her predeceased brother, Roger Barker, and her beloved parents, Lloyd and Helen Barker. Many nieces and nephews also continue to cherish the fond memories and teachings not to be forgotten.

Donna was a testament to courage, a friendly presence in the community, and an embodiment of strength and generosity. She instinctively knew when others needed a comforting word or a supportive embrace. Donna lived her life with a courageous spirit, facing challenges with grace and a smile that could illuminate the darkest of days.

We remember a woman whose very existence was a tapestry of love, kindness, and vitality. Her love continues to blossom in the gardens she left behind, and in the countless lives she touched with her generous heart.

Visitation will be held at the Justen Funeral Home & Crematory, 3700 W. Charles Miller Road, McHenry, IL on Tuesday, March 3, 2026, from 11:30 am -1:30 pm followed by a service at 1:30 pm. With burial to follow at 2:30 pm at Ringwood Cemetery.
