Donna Henry, age 57 of Gatesville, passed away on Thursday, December 21, 2023.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 30, 2023, at Scott’s Funeral Home with Pastor Danny Crosby officiating. The family will receive visitors at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
Donna Marie Henry was born on January 27, 1966, in Greensboro, North Carolina to the late Ransom and Mildred Scott Adams. She grew up and attended school in Summerfield, North Carolina. She married David Henry in 1984, who was serving in the United States Marine Corp at the time of their marriage. After completing his tour of duty, Donna and David returned to North Carolina until his re-enlistment into the United States Army. Their first child, Kammi was born in 1990 while the two were living in Germany. David was later assigned to Fort Hood, and moved his family to Gatesville, where they made their home. Kassi, their second child, was born in 1996. Donna then began working for the Texas Department of Criminal Justice in human resources and remained there until her retirement in 2021. During her career at TDCJ, she also attended Central Texas College and obtained an associate degree in general studies. In 2023, Donna returned to TDCJ, working as a supervisor over inmate records at the Woodman State Jail.
Having only two children of her own, Donna, also known as “Ducki”, became a mother to many. She loved to paint and enjoyed listening to live music. She was also fond of nature and loved to spend time with her one and only grandchild, Asher.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, David.
Donna is survived by her two daughters, Kammi Dunn and Kassi Henry; grandson, Asher Dunn; niece, Cora Sims and husband, Robert; brothers, Ronnie Adams Sr. and wife, Debby, and David Adams; sister, Jessie Smith; and many other nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, Donna’s family request memorials be made to the Correctional Peace Officers Foundation, P.O. Box 348390, Sacramento, California 95834.
