Donna Hickson Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Einan's at Hillcrest - Kennewick on May 21, 2024.
Donna Lee Maddock was the first-born child of Alice and Leland Maddock. She was born in the Los Angeles Memorial Hospital on June 17, 1935. Donna was the eldest of four girls. She is survived by her sisters, Joan, Jean, and Penny.
On June 27, 1953, Donna married the love of her life, Brer Lee Hickson in California. Together they raised five children: Danny (Evelyn), Mike (Mary), Jill (Gary), Curtis (Jennifer), and Traci (Grant). They raised their family in Southern California and enjoyed the sunny weather and beaches.
In 1991 Donna and Lee moved to Washington State, first to the Methow Valley and then on to Kennewick in 1997, where they remained for the rest of their lives, though Donna never lost her draw to the ocean and life near a beach. Her decoration of their home always reflected her love of the sea.
Lee passed away December 7, 2018. Donna and Lee won a lot of "which couple has been married the longest?" competitions at weddings! Family mattered a great deal to Donna and she is survived by 5 children, 15 grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren. Remembering birthdays and sending holiday cards and gifts to her family and friends was something Donna never tired of.
Donna loved music and dancing. She sang in various choirs, sang along to bands and records regularly, and music could be heard often – along with Steve Harvey, Wheel of Fortune, and Jeopardy at near full volume (in her later years).
A small Celebration of Life is planned for August 3, 2024 at 11:00am. Donna's ashes will join Lee's in the Columbia River near their shared memorial bench. Family and friends are welcome. There will be a no host gathering in Traci and Grant's backyard after the memorial.
