Donna Jean Himes, 85, of Lachine passed away Friday, August 15, 2025, at MyMichigan Medical Center – Alpena.
Donna Jean Jackowiak was born in Alpena on October 24, 1939, to the late Walter and Lucille (Halleck) Jackowiak. On September 7, 1957, she married Dale Himes. He preceded her in death on May 7, 2018. She retired from Alpena Public Schools and was a member of Grace Episcopal Church. Donna loved fishing, teaching all of her family how to, casino trips, bowling and playing Bingo.
Surviving are her children, Linda (Frank) Kruczynski, Brenda (Jeff) Orban, Billy (Tina) Himes; her siblings that she helped raise, Walter (Sue) Jackowiak, Joe (Marla) Jackowiak, Mary (Mark) Cole; 15 grandchildren, Stanley (Diana) Kruczynski, Patrick (Ambre) Kruczynski, Rickie (Jessica) Kruczynski, Becky (Matt) Brege, Sarah (Ryan) Frost, Heather (Zachary) Birmingham, Hailee Himes, Hope (Marcus) Amlotte, Nick (Carey) Cole, Nathan (Shantel) Cole, Kelli (Alejandro) Jaramillo, Lisa Jackowiak, Criag Jackowiak, Bob (Lindsey) Jackowiak, Krystal (Larry) Mitchell; 23 great grandchildren that meant the world to her; brother-in-law, Ronald Simpson.
Mrs. Himes was preceded in death by 3 siblings, Richard Jackowiak, Modesta Harrison and Barbara Simpson.
Memorial visitation will take place at Grace Episcopal Church – Lachine on Friday, August 29, 2025, from 10 a.m. until the time of the memorial service at 12 p.m. with The Very Rev. William McClure officiating. Cremation arrangements have been handled by the Bannan Funeral Home.
