Donna Rae Jackson, lovingling known as “Cookie”, passed away peacefully on October 14, 2025 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in Hamilton, New Jersey. Born on March 2, 1956, the only child to Arlene Jackson and Zebbie Willis, Donna was a resilient woman from “Brick City” and made her mark wherever she went and to whomever she met.
At age 16, “Cookie’s” mother passed away and left her in the care of a close friend, Lu-Jean Brown who served as her maternal figure and support until Mrs. Brown’s passing.
Donna worked for Ford Motor Companies, NJ Transit and as a School Bus Driver for Newark Public Schools.
She was blessed with three children, Stacey, Yasin and Omar.
Donna leaves behind two children Stacey Mustapha and Omar Jackson. Her daughter-in-law Sheila Jackson. Four grandchildren, Yanissa, Yanirah, Omar Jr. and Adonis. Three great grandchildren, Carter, Yasiah, and Yakari. Her sister Gloria Burks and her nieces Sheronda and La'Tavia. Donna now joins her beloved child Yasin, now reunited in peace.
“Cookie” was a firecracker! A woman full of energy, love, and quick comebacks, in a loving way. She was naturally bold, unapologetic, and outspoken, offering her opinions and advice with comedic air. She enjoyed playing Bingo and participating in arts and crafts, specifically jewelry making. She fought a good fight and all that knew and loved her will remember her spirit, strength and tenacity.
