Donna Jean Johnson

Donna Jean Johnson, age 91, of Mentor, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 20, 2025.

Born on July 18, 1934, in Struthers, Ohio, she was the daughter of Pete and Nellie Holmberg. On November 23, 1950, Donna married the love of her life, Eugene "Sonny" Johnson. Together they shared 52 wonderful years of marriage, raising a beautiful family and building a lifetime of memories.

Donna was the proud and devoted mother of Linda Witt, Lillian Johnson, Bruce (Diane) Johnson, Johnny (Jane) Johnson, and Edward (Brenda) Johnson. She was the cherished grandmother of 35, great-grandmother of 18, and great-great-grandmother of one. Her greatest joy in life came from her family, and she often said, "I would do it all over again," when speaking of raising her six children.

She was welcomed into eternal rest by her beloved husband, Eugene "Sonny" Johnson; her son, Eugene "Sonny" Johnson Jr.; her granddaughter, Dawn Pozderac; and her great-grandson, Rylan Niewiadomski.

Donna lived a full and vibrant life. She found happiness in cheering on her Cleveland Browns-always hopeful for that long-awaited Super Bowl-and never missed a Cleveland Indians game. She enjoyed working on puzzles and crafts, and her hands were rarely still as she crocheted and knitted countless pieces made with love. Throughout her career, she took great pride in her work at Fluid Control, Argo Tech, and PCC Airfoils, where she later retired.

Above all, Donna will be remembered for her unwavering love for her family, her warm heart, and her ability to find joy in life's simple pleasures. Her legacy lives on in the generations she so deeply cherished.

A celebration of Donna's life will be held on Thursday, August 28, 2025, from 4–8 p.m. at McMahon-Coyne-Vitantonio Funeral Home, 6330 Center St., Mentor, OH 44060.
