Donna Lee Clevenstine Sheridan, 81, of Solomons, Maryland, passed away on June 23 2024, in Prince Frederick, Maryland. She was born on September 21, 1942, in Washington, D.C to the late Crider Clevenstine and Ruth (Bierly) Clevenstine.
Soon after graduating from Oxon Hill Senior High School in 1960, Donna joined the business world as a secretary/staff assistant for a Washington, DC, printing company. She retired as a Customer Service Representative from the Kelly Publishing Company after many years of service. Donna enjoyed her job and the people with whom she worked. She also enjoyed her life apart from work to the fullest. As a member of the Shillelaghs Travel Club, she traveled extensively and always with good friends and sometimes family.
Donna was also a huge supporter of animal rights, adoption, and care. As an example, she once flew to Best Friends Animal Society sanctuary in Utah to work as a maintenance volunteer for a week. Over her lifetime, Donna rescued numerous cats leaving only her beloved Cocoa and Angel behind at her death.
She is survived by her sisters, Linda Kay Kromer (Mark) of Owings, MD, Jean Ruth Clevenstine (Raymond) of Rosehaven, MD, nieces and nephews Bernard Matthews (Laurel), Jeffrey Matthews (Jessamyne), great nephew Jacob Matthews, great niece Madelyne Matthews, her stepdaughter June Lee Boothby, and her cat children, Cocoa and Angel. She was preceded in death by her parents and her life partner John Boothby.
Donna was beloved by all of her family and friends. Her humor and quick wit and her ability to make anyone smile will be sorely missed. A 10:00 a.m. visitation will precede a memorial service to celebrate Donna's life on July 16, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at the Brinsfield Funeral Home at 22955 Hollywood Road in Leonardtown, Maryland, in lieu of flowers, donations may be to the Friends of the Linda L. Kelly Animal Shelter, P.O. Box 143, Sunderland, MD 20689.
