Donna J. Lodico
Donna J. Lodico, 85, passed away after a long battle with Parkinson's disease during the early hours of Sunday morning, May 4, 2025, at her residence in Annapolis, Maryland.
She was born near Forest, Ohio, July 30, 1939, to Grover C. Anderson and Mildred F. (Schmidt) Anderson. She was valedictorian of her class at Forest High School, received her bachelor's degree at Ohio Northern University, and later her master's degree at Bowling Green State University. She married R. Edward Lodico on February 6, 1965, and they remained together until his passing in 2008. She is survived by her son, James (Jim) Lodico and daughter-in-law, Denise Worthington of Annapolis, Maryland; daughter, Sally Lodico of Knoxville, Tennessee; and daughter, Susan Salyer and son-in-law, Brad Salyer of Richmond, Virginia. She is also survived by four grandchildren, Sophia and Camden Lodico and Makena and Payton Salyer.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Grover and Mildred; her half brothers, Harry and Charles Anderson; and her half sisters, Eleanor Kent, Janette Williams, and Margaret Kissling.
After graduating from college, Donna moved to Findlay, where she worked in her early years as a business education teacher at Findlay High School and an administrative assistant at Marathon Oil Company. She later worked as director of the Hancock County branch of the
American Cancer Society and then at Owens Technical College. She served for many years as a church organist at Trinity Episcopal Church, where she was an active member throughout her adult life. Her son, Jim, would often joke that the constant refrain of his mother practicing church music on her organ in the living room formed the soundtrack of his childhood.
She was an active member of Indian Lake Yacht Club (ILYC) for many years and spent many summer weekends with her family at their condo at the lake. She remained active at ILYC until she moved from Findlay in 2020. Donna and her husband, Ed, were avid bridge players. They played in both the Marathon Bridge League and with a lifelong group of friends ("The "Bridge Group") who would meet for monthly bridge parties. In later years, she enjoyed playing bridge with friends at the Findlay Country Club. She was a member of AAUW, Meridian Club and various book clubs over the years.
Although she moved to Annapolis, Maryland, to be closer to her family in the fall of 2020, she never really left her home in Findlay. She always enjoyed hearing reports or seeing photos from back home and often talked about her friends back in Findlay.
Her memorial service will be at Trinity Epispical Church in Findlay this summer at a date yet to be determined.
