Donna Lyons Obituary

Donna Marie Lyons, 73, of New Paltz passed away at home on Friday July 12, 2024 surrounded by her loving family after a long illness. She was born December 24, 1950 in Kingston, a daughter of the late Edward and Rita (Melbert) Lukaszewski.
Donna taught in the medical field for seventeen years at the former Ridley Lowell Business and Technical Institute in Poughkeepsie. A Licensed Practical Nurse, she worked at Bambini Pediatrics in Poughkeepsie. She was a life member of the Fairview Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary, and in her earlier years was an assistant scout master for Boy Scout Troop 17.
Surviving are her children, Jason "Jay" Albrechtsen, Stephanie Lyons, and Shannon Lyons, grandchildren Mitchell and Kendall Albrechtsen and Felix Oakley. Siblings Robert Lukaszewski and his wife Patricia, John Lukaszewski and his wife Deborah, Gerry Lukaszewski and his wife Anita, Teresa Mitchell (Joe Letersky) and Alycia Sofokles and her husband Philip. Many nieces and nephews also survive.
Expressions of sympathy in lieu of flowers may be made in the form of contributions to the American Cancer Society-121 Executive Drive New Windsor, NY 12553.

Donna was a fighter in the real sense of the word! She fought that disease with all her strength, not for herself but for her family! All of our phone calls were of concern for her family, trying to set things so that they could have a roof over their head and love in their hearts for each other. Honor Mom by fighting as hard as she did and loving each other as she loved all of you! Donna indeed was one of a kind and much love by those who knew her! Blessings´. Sandy & Bruce Duckwitz. Donna and I worked together at Ridley Lowell. She was a great person, always willing to lend a hand. She will be sadly missed. RIP my friend.

Stephanie, Shannon, and Jay -
I am so very saddened to learn of your mother's recent passing. I crossed paths with her in so many ways over the years. We worked together at Haviland many years ago. We had kids at VAS at the same time. We had connections through Fairview Fire House. I was always happy to run into her. We had great conversations and loved to catch up. She had such a bubbly personality. It is hard to believe I will not run into her again. She is in my thoughts and prayers, as are all of her family and friends. May she rest in peace.
