Donna Mahon Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Michigan Memorial Funeral Home, Inc. on Dec. 30, 2024.
Donna Mae Mahon, aged 85, passed away peacefully on December 28, 2024, in Dearborn, Michigan. Born on July 7, 1939, in Evergreen Township, Michigan, Donna lived a life rich in love, devotion, and warmth.
A woman of many talents, Donna dedicated her working years to roles that highlighted her creativity and interpersonal skills. She worked as a hairdresser, a cake decorator, and a barmaid, leaving a mark of grace and kindness in each position she held.
Donna shared 28 cherished years with the love of her life, her beloved husband, James Mahon, Jr. Their bond was unbreakable, seldom spending time apart except for work commitments. Together, they created a home filled with love, laughter, and an open heart for any stray animal that needed shelter. Her nurturing spirit extended beyond her family, as she became a life member of the VFW Auxiliary.
Her passions were varied and vibrant. Donna had a remarkable talent for gardening, especially fairy gardens, which she tended with the utmost care. Known for her culinary skills, she delighted family and friends with her legendary banana cookies, though the secret recipe remains her own.
Summer weekends would find Donna joyfully perusing yard sales, searching for hidden treasures. She treasured time spent at the Renaissance Festival, relishing in the joy of soup bowls. In her quieter moments, she found solace in knitting and enjoyed the melodies of country music while indulging in good movies.
Donna's love for games was infectious; she was an enthusiastic player of Euchre, Bingo, and Yahtzee. Ever the team, she and James often attended bingo together, where he would happily stamp her bingo cards.
Above all, Donna Mae Mahon was a devoted mother and grandmother. She is survived by her loving children, Cindy Folden, John (JoAnn) Bell, and Shelby (George) Dupuie. Her legacy continues through her grandchildren, Timothy, Thomas (Yvonne), John III (Crystal), and Logan, and her great-grandchildren, Dillin, Gabriella, Brianne, Hayden, Dominic, and Xander and brother Virgil (Candace) Darr. Her cherished furbabies, Samantha, Fat Boi, Peanut, and Spatz, also feel her absence keenly.
Preceded in death by her parents, Marion and Ray Darr, Donna's spirit will live on through the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
Donna's life was a testament to the power of love, family, and the simple joys that bring people together. Her small stature belied a heart that could embrace the world, and her memory will forever be a blessing to those who had the privilege of knowing her. Her cremation will take place at "The Witness Crematory" located inside of Michigan Memorial Funeral Home.
