Born September 26, 1968, in Columbus, she was the daughter of the late Lyndsey and Bobbie Jean (Griffith) Chapman. She married Jack Monroe on September 17, 1987, in North Vernon; he survives.
Donna was a 1987 graduate of Jennings County High School and worked as paraprofessional for Jennings County School Corporation mainly at Scipio Elementary School. She had previously worked for 10 years at INDOT in Seymour as the facilities administrator and DNR before retiring in 2004. She was a member of Vernon Baptist Church and a former member of Queensville Community Church. Donna enjoyed taking vacations with her family and spending time with her grandchildren, children and being a caregiver to Paisley. She also enjoyed going to eat at different restaurants and shopping.
Surviving with her husband of 38 years Jack, is her son, Marcus (Janis) Monroe of North Vernon; her daughter, Brooke (Brian) Ratliff of North Vernon; step-father, Verlin Justice of North Vernon; brothers, Daryel (Stacey) Chapman of North Vernon and Rex (Aileen) Chapman of Columbus; sister, Gloria (Brian) Houshour of Columbus; grandchildren, Brantley Ratliff, Brileah Ratliff, Brittney Ratliff, Allen "AJ" Snyder-Monroe and Paisley Snyder-Monroe, all of North Vernon.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother Dean Chapman; and sister, Diana Guenthensperger.
Services are pending with Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Service in North Vernon.
Memorials may be made in honor of Donna through the funeral home to the Fair Haven Foundation.
