Donna Gail Olas, who always preferred Gail, passed away on Saturday September 9, 2023, at age 74. She was born June 4, 1949, in Johnstown, Pennsylvania. Her parents were Audrey R. Hoffman Jenkins and Robert C Jenkins. She married Joel C. Olas on July 5, 1969, in Valparaiso, Indiana.
Gail has been a long-time community member of Springville, Utah. After marrying her husband Joel, they moved to Springville in 1970 to enjoy the great outdoors. In her younger years she enjoyed activities such as skiing, fishing, trap shooting with her husband and cooking the wild game they caught together. She later in life learned the art of quilting, knitting, and crocheting. This lead to a lifetime of friendships with quilters and knitters across Utah and she would share her wonderful handmade designs with all of her family. She valued time with her family above all other things, so much so that her grandchildren have taken after her in cooking, knitting, and quilting and are keeping her memory and spirit close by continuing to grow in the hobbies she shared with them. It should also be mentioned that Gail worked for the Utah Valley Hospital for 20 years as a Dispatch Operator.
Gail is survived by her husband Joel C. Olas and their 2 children: Ben (April) Olas of Ogden, Utah; Kelli (Steve) Peterson of South Jordan, Utah; as well as her sister Dianne Jenkins Hahn of Dallas, Texas. She has 5 grandchildren: Shania Spilman, Isaac Malamud, Isabelle Olas, London Peterson, and Boston Peterson; and 1 great-grandchild Nova Spilman.
A graveside service will be held Friday, September 15, 2023, at 2 pm at the Evergreen Cemetery located at 1997 S 400 E St, in Springville, Utah. A celebration of life will follow from 3-5pm at the Springville Art Museum.
